I was going to write about the MAGA uproar and ICE threats about Bad Bunny and the Superbowl, but then I saw Melania Trump's AI post on X, By Hal M. Brown

I looked at HUFFPOST this morning and saw the articles above about Bad Bunny and the Super Bowl.

I decided that I’d take a break from writing about Trump’s “take as few prisioners as possible” blitzkrieg, or his unhingedness, and address how ridiculous their bothering with the culture war is. I mean, I never heard of Bad Bunny and I was curious enough to find some YouTubes of him. I am sure I am not alone.

Here’s his YouTube channel:

Then, also looking at HUFFPOST I saw this:

This prompted me to go to Perchance AI and ask for images of Melania Trump crying and then I used them in this reply to her post on X.

I even posted it as a comment to the HUFFPOST article:

I also used AI to make the top illustration for this Substack.

I admit that I’d like it if one of my posts on X or Bluesky was picked up and amplified on one or another the websites which features social media posts in one of their articles. Both HUFFPOST and RawStory do this. Not that I am starving for recognition beyond my miniscule pressence on Substack (insert humility emoji)…

Getting serious, I wondered whether Project 2025 addresed woke and the culture war so I asked AI. This is the answer I got:

Yes, Project 2025 includes proposals that address issues related to the culture war, emphasizing a conservative agenda that opposes “woke” policies. It advocates for a broader implementation of conservative values across various sectors of government, reflecting a focus on cultural issues.

I found this in this long article about Project 2025:

In calling for a return to the “biblically based, social science-reinforced definition of marriage and family” (page 481), an end to all forms of “woke propaganda” (page 9) and the jailing of pornographers (page 5), Project 2025 is clear in its intention to make the federal government a combatant in the culture war.

I also found this is in  “Voters Are Tired of the “War on Woke” from June 2024.

Of course Biden dropped out, Kamala ran and was, if anything, even more woke than him, and she lost. Between June of 2024 Trump added anti-trans to his campaign train of grievances and this may actually have swayed a few votes. He created some delusional demon called DEI. He went anti-woke bigly.

He’s president/dictator, possibly for the rest of his life, so the question remains as to why he and his minions are bothering with the woke war.

I will venture an answer. I think it is for a similar reason as mine for using AI to make the images of Melania. I think it is because it is fun to be malicious at times. For me it is a way to express my sense of helplessness through mockery. For them I think it is because they get pleasure out of kicking those they feel are already down.

I didn’t know the following:

I was looking up top Spotify streams and number one is Taylor Swift. Number two is Bad Bunny.

The trans communtiy needs their own Billy Jean King, by Hal M. Brown

I just watched this guy, Sebastion Gorka shown below, this lying trans obsessed sack of excrement, on CNN blaming trans youth for an inordinate number of school shootings:

When the host tried to interrupt him disputing his claims with real statistics he kept talking over him. This was yet another time I wished hosts could a flash yellow light before cutting off their microphone.

Whenever the host tried to interject actual factual statistics he accused CNN of making up their own facts and having done this for 10 years.

In the next segement, which was supposed to be about RFK Jr., another Trump spokesmans went off once again on how trans people need to be dealt with. This had absolutely nothing to do with what everyone else was discussing on a panel what included him, a less adamant RFK Jr. supporter, and, if I recall correctly, one or two critics.

I am not going to go into depth about this particular show and specifically Sebastion Gorka. It should suffice to show his X page (below):

What I am both intrigued and disgusted by is how anti-trans has even become a “thing.” As both a retired psychotherapist and I hope a rational person it seems that this should be a non-issue. The only time the word “problem” should be in the same sentence as “trans people” is when addressing the problem of the lack of mental health services for providing support for this group. Not only this population, but for any other underserved vulnerable group for whom expert, which would mean non-judgmental, counseling would be beneficial.

When I was on a diversity committee about 25 years ago, along with school administrators and counselors, pastors, and other therapists, it was to help address what was then a growing recognition of the problems gay, lesbian, and bisexual students were having coping with their emotions and to find ways to help them deal with prejudice and basically, to put it simplisitically, to feel good about themselves and their future. We didn’t even talk about trans.

I’m not even sure that I and others knew that, as current estimates show, 3.3% of high school students identify as transgender. The term gay at the time encompassed lesbian, hence they was a “gay and straight” alliance group in our high school. AI tells me that “The term LGBTQ began to be used in the early 2000s, evolving from the earlier acronym LGBT, which was adopted in the 1990s. The initialism itself originated from LGB, which was first used in the mid-1980s.”

There was no LGBTQ+ alphabet with a long list of acronyms like those listed and described on this 2021 website and others.

Political expediency has manadated that people who are gay, lesbian, or bisexual must only be mocked in private and that they may never be publicly demonized. There are just too many of them in the population that hold high postions in politics, business, the arts and entertainment.

There are gay and lesbian people working in the White House, notable among them Scott Bessent, Secretary of Treasury and Ric Grennell, the presidential envoy for special missions, but there are several more (see article).

Trump can play YMCA at his rallies and nobody blinks a bigoted eyelash, but citing financial constraints and scheduling conflicts, he canceled The Gay Men’s Chorus at The Kennedy Center Pride perfomance (see article) I am quite certain it was really because of one capital letter in this sentence:

Aside from believers in the Pray the Gay Away movement my sense is that many, perhaps the majority, of people accept that people are born with certain gender preferences or proclivities. The idea that one could become gay or lesbian due to some kind of overprotective mothering or, as Freud thought, a developmental arrest in early childhood, has been abandoned by experts in psychology and sexology.

While it SHOULD be abundantly clear to a thinking person that the same holds true for a trans person who knows from an early age that the gender of the body they were born with is not the gender that they really are.

The exact causes of being transgender are not fully understood. Current research suggests a combination of genetic, brain structure, and hormonal factors play a role. I’m not an expert, but I don’t think childhood experiences play a role as the anti-trans people want you to believe.

But what a wowza way to demonize a group for political gain than to decide trans people are just plain bad and shouldn’t exist.

The anti-trans GOP don’t rage about people like tennis great Billie Jean King who is a prominent LGBTQ rights advocate. She publicly came out as a lesbian in 1981 after being outed.

I well remember when she played a well known male tennis player, Bobby Riggs, in the much hyped Battle of the Sexes (see Wikipedia).

But had she been someone born a man who became a woman, you damn well know the anti-trans movement among Republicans would have gained traction back in the eighties.

OUT Magazine recently listed 33 football players who came out as gay (here).

Nobody is raising hell saying they shouldn’t be allowed to play.

Just wait until we have one accomplished male to female trans athelete competing in and being a standout in a very popular woman’s sport and we’ll have to see what the anti-trans group has to say. So far all I have found is a list of 29 trans athletes who have won state, national or international titles in women’s sports. I have not heard of a single one of them. If you look down the list you will see the sporting events are not what you would call “major sports.” It is only a matter of time before someone emerges in a professional sport that large numbers of people pay attention to.

Then we may have a trans Billy Jean King. I hope it happens in my lifetime. I want to see a spokeswoman like King go up against the anti-trans bigots.

How a few comments to a HUFFPOST article comparing Trump to Hitler is a snapshot of divided America, By Hal M. Brown (The article is about Trump's anti-trans rants, but comments may show that a lot of men suffer from castration anxiety.

I read The Nazis Made A Horrifying Move In 1933. I'm Terrified Trump Is Now Doing The Exact Same Thing.

“Until recently, the question remained theoretical. But it’s not an exaggeration to say that President Trump is running plays straight out of Hitler’s playbook.”

The author, Ali Moss has a Substack where she also published this article.

I made this comment on HUFFPOST:

Then I looked over the comments and got the idea for today’s Susbtack.

The comments section of HUFFPOST continues to be an accurate representation of the dichotomy of viewpoints between Americans. On the one side we have those who condemn the author of this article and the entire idea that transgender children actually are born that way. These posts are sometimes crude and angry. They sometime say any comparison of Turmp with Hitler is, not always in these words, Trump derangement syndrome.

On the other side we have people who agree with the author that what Trump is doing has horrifying similarities to what Hitler did. These commenters tend to be both well thought out and respectful.

I looked at the comments and found a thread in response to what Roberta Powell posted. She was responding to a comment I can’t see because it was removed:

You can read it below. There are several typos.

  • Roberta Powell

We are there. He has labeled the same people as criminals, nonexistent or enemies. LGBTQ, DEI, foreign born, the press, the universities, libraries and liberals are lunatics destroying the American dream. And just like 1933 Germany he found a violent minority who agree. He oiks very elserlyfound more that join him for their own gain. Hitler was not 80 years old. Trump is. Trump's Reich ls led by the elderly but enforced by the middle aged. They have no limits. What laws they do not remove they break. This is a far right lunatic political party with an opposition that sits back to let the right do damage and lose support. We know we are not represented in Congress by either party. Unless we join the right wingers we are alone. We are there. It is 1930 Germany here in the U.S.A. and a depression is being set up. It's going to get very bad here.

    • LAXMAN FIVE

So you like males on female sports teams and in their locker rooms right liberal? Only a Nazi would be against that. Right.

      • Two term Papaw

        All three of them!!!!

Meanwhile MAGA can’t afford groceries without a second low wage job

      • Roberta Powell

It's sports. I see huge muscular "born girls" and dainty, feminine "born boys" being used as an excuse to destroy every freedom our ancestors fought for. It's insane. I don't see the point. Why force girls to compete with transgender boys? It's not fair. Any athlete born female could take hormones and go through surgeries and compete against girls according to Trump. And they are? Just to win a high school trophy? That's nuts. And when girls compete with boys the girls still win sometimes. I think that is your real objection. Get over it and try harder.

    • undefined undefined

DEI is racist and a man can't be a woman princess.

      • Roberta Powell

But they can! DEI and transgenders can do their jobs.

  • Susan Ortiz

Some how her trans 11 year old had the freedom of speech intact to address the crowd under this nazi regime. How does that work?

    • Trump's Fascist Regime

      Ask the Columbia university protesters...

  • Daniel Pedraza

Of course he is. His own daughter said he sleeps with copy of mine kempf by his bed. The entire DEI fraud that is a major Republican talking point is just a clever way to move towards white supremacy That's all it is.

    • Halle Piño

      You think that's "clever"?!

      Seems pretty transparent to me.

  • Beef Supreme

Another woman emotionally manipulated by the Big Media Propaganda Machine into feeling terrified. How sad.

Roberta Powell replied to something I added to the comments:

Ha! How is Trump different than Hitler?

  • Hal Brown

The similarities outweigh the differences. Hitler was a stable psychopath. Trump is an unstable psychopath. I am writing my Substack and knowing if you are the person I think you are will add more to it.

Just added:

Trump has had so many big lies beside the one about him really having won the 2020 election that led to his re-election that there’s no one lie we can pick out as the biggest of the big lies. My choice is that the biggest election outcome defining big lie was that the reason he servived the assassination attempt was that God ordained this. When I saw the photo of him with his fist raised I knew he couldn’t lose.

There were other big lies such as that the MAGA thugs who assaulted the Capitol were patriots. Trump has also managed to make the entire trans issue into a big lie. In the inconvenient fact don’t mater MAGA-sphere it is a big lie that there are only two genders. What the hell does the Mayo Clinic know?

As a psychoanalytically informed psychotherapist I see things like this through a Freudian lens. My analysis of why Trump’s anti-trans fear-mongering resonates with so many men is that they are insecure about their own masculinity. They have a deeply buried unconscious fear of castration. I would venture to speculate that this manifests itself in symbolism in their dreams.

This is how Wikipedia defines castration anxiety:

Castration anxiety is an overwhelming fear of damage to, or loss of, the penis—a derivative of Sigmund Freud's theory of the castration complex, one of his earliest psychoanalytic theories. The term refers to the fear of emasculation in both a literal and metaphorical sense.

Freud regarded castration anxiety as a universal human experience. It is thought to begin between the ages of 3 and 5, during the phallic stage of psychosexual development. In Freud's theory, it is the child's perception of anatomical difference (the possession of a penis) that induces castration anxiety as a result of an assumed paternal threat made in response to their sexual proclivities. Although typically associated with males, castration anxiety is thought to be experienced, in differing ways, by both sexes.

In the literal sense, castration anxiety refers to a child's fear of having their genitalia disfigured or removed as punishment for Oedipal desire

I wonder whether if there was the research into gender identity and gender reassignment surgery in Freud’s lifetime whether he would have considered how he interpreted dreams about castration.

It doesn’t take a leap of imagination to come up with a Freudian explanation about someone’s unconscious fears when they lied and obsessed about the size of crowds that came to hear them speak. Likewise, if someone depicted themselves in computer generated images as muscular superheros sometimes carrying big guns, you don’t have to be Freud to speculate about their unconscious fears. Fake pro-wrestling crap, and the very worst, his need to sexually dominate women… I could go on but I will spare you.

Read my recent Substacks.

The lying flaming faked Oregon GOP post on X led me to take a stroll down their page. I'm posting some of what I found here. By Hal M. Brown
