Time out for politics: My most recent Daily Kos story made it to Number One on their trending stories list, had at last count over 200 comments and as of now there have been nearly 3,000 readers who took the poll:

The Singer Hill Cafe has been in the process of being renovated for several months and has finally opened. It is across the street from the popular restaurant The Hive Social Club on top of the hill on 6th Street near. The fire station and public library are diagonally across the street in Oregon City.

It is a breakfast and lunch restaurant. The inside, except for one room with plants growing on a wall (below), is nothing special, in fact the rooms are sparsely decorated.

Outside is another story. The large patio boasts amazing outdoor seating areas shown below with plants growing out of the wall of the building and other foliage and sculpture.

The foliage at the base of the tree which is painted on the wall is real.

A shout-out to the W. Linn Parks and Rec. Dept

Seen on the road to Aurora:

On April 17th I went with friends to eat at one of our favorite picnic spots. It is at Willamette Park in W. Linn. We were able to get the best table which is built out over the river. It was very upsetting to see that vandals had defaced the table and wooden structure with obscene graffiti. Click to enlarge:

We were going to report this to the Parks and Recreation Department but put it off. Then today we went there again and were delighted to see that the graffiti had been removed.

The only sad thing was that a second plaque had been added next to the one that was there before.

Luke Kagey was killed at the age of 21 in a car accident. This is from the article about it:

4 killed in crash at homeless encampment in Salem remembered as funny, kind, loving

.
Luke Kagey

It has a profile of Luke who was living at a homeless encampment when he was killed by a drunk driver.

Here are more views of the structure Luke helped build:

There was a narrow dirt path we hadn't noticed before which started in the brush near the boat ramp. We decided to see where it went. Here are the photos.

It looked like the path ended but it continued on...

There was even a small foot bridge.

The path went quite close to the river in places.

Above, the end of the path...

The fence is for the volley ball court...

On the way home we went to City Hall where the Parks and Recreation Office is to express our appreciation for the removal of the graffiti. The staff were well aware of what happened and were pleased that someone was coming in with a complement rather than a complaint.

There were only a few people fishing in the river nearby. However on the way going over the bridge there was a break in the traffic so it was possible to get out of the car and take this of the many boats with people fishing for salmon.
