Michael Moore, who should know the rust belt working class better than most anybody, says there's one person who could easily beat Trump. Unfortunately they have said there's no way they would run. Guess first and then click below to see who it is.

More on this story:

Trump humiliates his press secretary by immediately contradicting her claims about Israel barring Omar and Tlaib

White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham on Thursday claimed that President Donald Trump did not put pressure on Israel’s government to bar Reps. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) and Ilhan Omar (D-MN) from entering their country.
However, the president blew up her claims just one hour later by sending out a tweet telling Israel to bar Tlaib and Omar.

CNN’s eagle-eyed fact checker Daniel Dale noticed that Grisham at roughly 9 a.m. on Thursday told reporters that “the Israeli government can do what it wants,” while going on to describe reports that Trump told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to stop Omar and Tlaib “inaccurate.”
At around 10 a.m., however, Trump sent out a tweet that explicitly warned Israel against letting the two congresswomen in.

“It would show great weakness if Israel allowed Rep. Omar and Rep. Tlaib to visit,” the president wrote. “They hate Israel & all Jewish people, & there is nothing that can be said or done to change their minds. Minnesota and Michigan will have a hard time putting them back in office. They are a disgrace!”

N.C.: Several points. First, the times we’re living in are extremely dangerous, in some ways more so than ever before in human history — which will essentially come to an end in any recognizable form if we do not deal effectively with the increasing threats of nuclear war and of environmental catastrophe. That requires reversing the course of the U.S. in dismantling arms control agreements and proceeding — along with Russia — to develop ever more lethal and destabilizing weapons systems; and in not only refusing to join the world in trying to do something about the severe environmental crisis but even aggressively seeking to escalate the threat, a form of criminality with literally no historical antecedent.
Not easy, but it can be done.
There have been other severe crises in human history, even if not on this scale. I’m old enough to remember the days when it seemed that the spread of fascism was inexorable — and I’m not referring to what is referred to as fascism today but something incomparably more awful. But it was overcome.
There are very impressive forms of activism and engagement taking place, mainly among younger people. That’s very heartening.
In the final analysis, we always have two choices: We can choose to descend into pessimism and apathy, assuming that nothing can be done, and helping to ensure that the worst will happen. Or we can grasp the opportunities that exist — and they do — and pursue them to the extent that we can, thus helping to contribute to a better world.

Not a very hard choice.

This man is racist scum, but speaks for Trump, Miller and the other Neo-Nazis that occupy the White House.

Breaking news:

FBI agents are livid that Trump is amplifying 'bulls--- theories' about Jeffrey Epstein's death 'that have no basis in reality'

Frank Montoya, Jr., a recently retired FBI special agent, characterized Trump's actions as "crazy talk coming from no less than the President of the United States."
"This would be a bad TV melodrama if it weren't real," he added. "The world is watching. Trump may be successfully fooling a third of America with his sociopathic antics, but everyone else ... sees how naked the Emperor is, and they are exploiting the advantage."

The 25th Amendment - see last sentence....
Hello. I’m Jake Tapper (CNN) in Washington, where the state of our union is appalled. We begin this morning with a retweet from the president of the United States, not a message about healing or uniting the country one week after two horrifying massacres, not about the victims of those tragedies.
Instead, President Trump using his massive Twitter platform, 63 million followers, to spread a deranged conspiracy theory, tying the death of pedophile Jeffrey Epstein in prison to the president's former political rivals the Clintons.
I’m not going to show you the tweet, but the spokesperson for former president Bill Clinton responded to the president retweeting it, saying — quote — “Ridiculous and, of course, not true, and Donald Trump knows it. Has he triggered the 25th Amendment yet?” . . .

Excerpt: When we have a president who is dangerous, a societal disorder is far more likely to play out.  In addition to embodying the “craziness” of society, Trump is spreading it; an office as powerful as the presidency is capable of laying the social and cultural groundwork for epidemics of violence.
Both in the actions he incites and those of which he is so capable with his access to the nuclear codes, the president of the United States is a past, present, and future source of danger and harm to many Americans and the world.

In 2017, the D.C. police made 216 prostitution-related arrests, which includes solicitation and pandering. In 2018, prostitution-related arrests more than doubled, reaching 519. Year-to-date in 2019, there have been 718 such arrests.
Those numbers will likely plummet if a bill reintroduced in June by D.C. Council members David Grosso (I-At Large), Anita Bonds (D-At Large), Robert C. White Jr. (D-At Large) and Brianne K. Nadeau (D-Ward 1) is enacted into law.
Under their legislation, designated as the Community Safety and Health Amendment Act of 2019, engaging in sexual activity in exchange for money in our nation’s capital will no longer be considered a crime.
Bill Maher:

“But seriously, Mr. President: Don’t console us,” he continued. “And mostly, stay out of hospitals. I mean, we have seen what he does in these situations. He threw paper towels to hurricane victims [in Puerto Rico]. What does he do in a hospital, throw Tylenol? I mean, these poor people. Imagine waking up from surgery and standing over you is this grinning, gaseous blob and his scowling trophy wife. People are like, shit, I must have died and went to hell.”

Bill Maher Exposes Fox News’ Tucker Carlson For Claiming White Supremacy Is a ‘Hoax’

“It’s scary the way some of this stuff is going so mainstream. Tucker Carlson of Fox News says white nationalism is a ‘hoax.’ You gotta love Republicans: global warming is a hoax; Russia, that was a hoax; white nationalism is a hoax. Hillary Clinton runs a pedophile ring out of a pizza parlor? Completely true. That one we know is true!” cracked Maher.
“And Tucker’s evidence that white nationalism is a ‘hoax?’ He says it’s because he’s never met one. Oh come on Tucker, yes you have!” offered Maher, before throwing to a photo of Carlson interviewing Trump on his program.

When I read about the heavily armed fake-police ICE thugs raiding a chicken factory I was inspired to post this story again.

When I spent thousands of hours riding with a regular officer as a police auxiliary in two cities over 20 years since I was a psychotherapist my job was often to comfort crime and accident victims, not to make children cry.

Are these thugs who have the audacity to have POLICE on the back of their backs afraid they will need assault rifles and body armor lest poultry peck at them?

Here's another story I wrote about about ICE: "All about the ICE Fugitive Operations Division."

As for Hitler, read this!

Words Fail me but Dahlia Lithwick got it right:

Excerpt: The cherry bomb on top was a photo from first lady Melania Trump’s Twitter account that appeared to feature a grinning president with a 2-month-old infant who was orphaned during the El Paso shooting. The baby’s parents were both killed trying to protect him.

Five of the eight El Paso victims who were still in the hospital reportedly declined to meetwith the president, and three were physically unable to. It appears baby Paul was brought back to the hospital by White House staff for the photo-op.
That’s the president, grinning and giving a thumbs-up, as the orphaned child is held out like a trophy. If words weren’t inclined to fail, ghoulish and surreal might serve. This child has no parents because a shooter spouting Trumpist talking points about foreign “invaders” went to El Paso to kill them. And while the president refused to speak to reporters, who were scolded by the White House press secretary, Stephanie Grisham, in a statement saying that the visits were all “about the victims” and not a “photo op,” hours later, Trump released a campaign-style video of his triumphal comforting tour.
It is clearly a horrifying spectacle of degradation when even consummate soulless showman Anthony Scaramucci is forced to say that the trip proved to be a “catastrophe” for the president, who was incapable of demonstrating the requisite quantum of “compassion” and “empathy” to win the reality show seal of approval. But for all its failures as a television event, Trump’s failure served to remind us how truly small he really is. And maybe that is enough. Read article
Thumbs up from smirking Trump while dim bulb Melania holds orphaned baby:
“This is not the first time he’s been this callous and unaware,” conservative CNN contributor Tara Setmayer added. “He just isn’t capable and people that support him seem to be okay with that and make excuses.” “The president is standing there with a thumbs up,” she added while discussing photos released from the White House. “They owe everyone who has ever been a victim, an apology. They disrespect the memory of these people being so flippant making campaign videos, complaining about crowd sizes.”

Malignant narcissism in the mainstream:
“Listen, I know this presidency breaks every norm in the book,” she continued. “This isn’t about breaking with presidential behavior. This is just wrong. This is gutless. If I don’t continue to call it out, then we are normalizing this kind of behavior — we’re better than this.”
“What a petty, small, insecure person,” Setmayer chimed in. “He never ceases to amaze me at how low he’ll go to feed his ego. This is malignant Narcissism 101.”

This is a photo of Trump from today which doesn't show him frothing at the mouth or screeching like a banshee. I decided to use it in a photoshop about Pence because if Trump latest behavior doesn't cause severe cognitive dissonance I doubt anything will.

NYT’s Trump Headline Is So Outrageous That People Are Canceling Subscriptions below, 2nd edition had new headline

The print front page of the Washington Post had a headline similar to the second printing of the NYT

The Daily News doesn't have headlines per se, they use their front page to good advantage. They don't shy from editorializing on the story of the day. Here's how they
presented the Trump - uh - speech. I love that this is the tabloid New Yorkers see every morning on newsstands across the city.

Hmmm... NRA survey on Washington Post story website page

I'm not cancelling my NYT subscription. I will keep both the WaPo and NYT. The WaPo was not above taking a jab at their rival:

EXCERPT: The New York Times weathered intense backlash Monday night for its front-page headline about President Trump’s response to the pair of mass shootings that read: “TRUMP URGES UNITY VS. RACISM.”

preview of Tuesday’s front page shared to social media sparked instant criticism from members of the public, journalists and politicians, including several 2020 Democratic presidential candidates, many of whom took issue with how the publication framed Trump’s comments on the weekend attacks in El Paso and Dayton, Ohio, that left at least 31 people dead and dozens injured. In the aftermath of the tragedies, major media outlets have faced scrutiny from all sides over how they confront Trump and his often inflammatory rhetoric.
About an hour after the headline went viral, the Times announced it had amended its wording.
“The headline was bad and has been changed for the second edition,” a spokesperson for the Times told The Washington Post in an email.

On Trump's address this morning, I can't put it better than this.

“He has no self-examination today in his comments! He said those who are prejudiced… are heartless, don’t have a heart, don’t have a soul. Well, Mr. President, by your own words you are heartless and soulless! You have been the propaganda chief of hatred here in the United States!” Rep. Luis GutiĆ©rrez

Reminder as if you need it, Trump is a malignant narcissist in addition to being a hate filled evil autocrat.

Malignant narcissism is a psychological syndrome comprising an extreme mix of narcissismantisocial behavioraggression, and sadism. (These people are) grandiose, and always ready to raise hostility levels, the malignant narcissist undermines families and organizations in which they are involved (in Trump's case, the entire country), and dehumanizes the people with whom they associate. (or who he defines as his adversaries or enemies).
Malignant narcissism includes aspects of narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) alongside a mix of antisocialparanoid and sadistic personality disorder traits.

You Reap What You Sow, Donald Trump. This is What Your Hate Talk Does to Our Country, by Sheila Malkin

Indeed, to quote the essay: "This malignant narcissist feels nothing for the people who have died. Nothing. He only cares about himself. This man has no empathy." --- and to think that before Trump not all that many people, even many therapists like me, knew there was such a way to understand evil and narcissistic people using the paradigm of malignant narcissism.

(Trump is) redefining what you can say and how a leader can act. He’s reasserting an old version of what sort of masculinity deserves to be followed and obeyed. In Freudian terms, he’s operating on the level of the id. In Thomistic terms, he is instigating a degradation of America’s soul.
It is no accident that the Democratic candidate with the best grasp of this election is the one running a spiritual crusade, not an economic redistribution effort. Many of her ideas are wackadoodle, but Marianne Williamson is right about this: “This is part of the dark underbelly of American society: the racism, the bigotry and the entire conversation that we’re having here tonight. If you think any of this wonkiness is going to deal with this dsark psychic force of the collectivized hatred that this president is bringing up in this country, then I’m afraid that the Democrats are going to see some very dark days.”
And she is right about this: “We’ve never dealt with a figure like this in American history before. This man, our president, is not just a politician; he’s a phenomenon. And an insider political game will not be able to defeat it. … The only thing that will defeat him is if we have a phenomenon of equal force, and that phenomenon is a moral uprising of the American people.”

Morning Joe panel slams Trump’s Ohio rally: Strutting around like Mussolini and ‘changing America for the worst’

The “Morning Joe” host and contributor (Donnie Duetsch) pointed out that Trump was prancing around stages acting like fascist dictator Benito Mussolini while Democrats needled one another on policy minutiae — and they warned that won’t beat the president in 2020.
“When Mussolini is standing up on the terrace like this, with a face like that,” Deutsch said, affecting a scowl, “to me, the parallels with Trump in terms of that self-satisfaction at the chaos he’s creating, the parallels are stunning there.”

Americans watched Trump strut across the stage in Cincinnati, Scarborough said, after watching Democrats bicker over the details of their policy plans — which he mimicked in an exaggerated nasal voice — instead of projecting strength against a “demagogue” president.
“Let’s talk about the man who is changing America for the worst, Donald Trump,” Scarborough said. “They don’t have to take the bait, but they always do, and there doesn’t seem to be a Democrat that understands where we are right now in history against this man.”
(Except that among the candidates in the debates, as noted by David Brooks, Marianne Williamson, whose chances of being on the ticket are slim to none, is the exception.

Emphasis added: “The FBI assesses these conspiracy theories very likely will emerge, spread, and evolve in the modern information marketplace, occasionally driving both groups and individual extremists to carry out criminal or violent acts,” the document states. It also goes on to say the FBI believes conspiracy theory-driven extremists are likely to increase during the 2020 presidential election cycle.
The FBI said another factor driving the intensity of this threat is “the uncovering of real conspiracies or cover-ups involving illegal, harmful, or unconstitutional activities by government officials or leading political figures.” The FBI does not specify which political leaders or which cover-ups it was referring to.
President Trump is mentioned by name briefly in the latest FBI document, which notes that the origins of QAnon is the conspiratorial belief that “Q,” allegedly a government official, “posts classified information online to reveal a covert effort, led by President Trump, to dismantle a conspiracy involving ‘deep state’ actors and global elites allegedly engaged in an international child sex trafficking ring.”

Headline of the day:
After one of several attacks by an incessantly nasty de Blasio — the former vice president smiled and said: “I love your affection for me. You spend a lot of time with me.”

De Blasio, who declared “victory” because Biden had changed the position he held on the North American Free Trade Agreement 25 years ago, replied: “We believe in redemption in this party.”

“Well,” Biden said dryly, “I hope you’re part of it.”

Not a bad line — on not a bad night for Biden. In fact, it was brilliantly and gloriously acceptable.
