Global Ministries

In addition to the Virginia Synod's official appointment as a synodical companion (Global Partner) to the New Guinea Islands District of Papua New Guinea, it recognizes that there are significant ministries occurring in other parts of the world through on-going programs that have been developed by some Virginia Synod Congregations.   Global Partnerships in Malawi and Tanzania are listed below.  This site would like to lift up other global ministries as well, so please submit your congregation's description of its global ministry to the Global Mission Committee Chairperson

  Malawi Mission - The Mission to Malawi began in 2003, a seminary internship
            project designed to educate St. Paul Lutheran Church in Roanoke in
            issues of Global poverty. Today the Mission has broadened to
            individuals and churches throughout the southeast United States;
            all focused on one goal - the mutual sharing of our talents and resources,
            furthering our relationship in Christ.

  American God Parent Scholarship Foundation - The Mission of Lutheran Safaris
            is to share the life-changing experience of traveling to a distant land,
            touching another culture very different from our own, and discovering
            in the process...that we have come home.
